Professional Statement

As an undergraduate I was primarily interested in literature that had to do with human subjects in spaces of conflict.  This led me to do research on a variety of seemingly disparate literatures – contemporary Arabic poetry, early 19th Century Native American oratory and James Joyce.  It was also inherently “interdisciplinary,” transgressing the disciplinary borders of philosophy and history especially.

The post-undergraduate trajectory of my project has led me to revaluate the object, form and function of my literary work (with a constant eye towards - and an integral understanding of - the academy as the space of working), resulting in a particular obsession with understanding and articulating emergent forms and modes of inquiry.
